Not content with costly travel insurance, Ryanair throws up new ideas to fleece passengers

12/06/2009

Ryanair has admitted it is considering charging passengers for sick bags ? which presumably will be needed by all those rendered nauseous by the realisation that they could have found cheaper travel insurance elsewhere.

Not content with charging passengers over the odds for everything from luggage to check in to travel insurance the no-frills airline says it is thinking about other money-spinning ideas.

Desperate to claw back some of the €180m the airline lost last year boss Michael O'Leary said he is planning to introduce a £1 charge for the onboard loos.

His theory is that the cost will deter passengers from spending a penny, enabling him to get rid of 2 of the 3 toilets onboard and instead squeeze an extra 7 passengers on to each flight.

After getting rid of Ryanair's check in desks, forcing passengers to pay £5 to check in online, O'Leary said he is also thinking about passengers carrying their own bags to the aircraft.

On the plus side, he claims he will cut fares by a fifth this year ? just make sure you go to the little boys' room before you step onboard.
