Airlines switch terminals at Heathrow
28/10/2009
Passengers flying from Heathrow (www.heathrowairport.com) should check which terminal they will be travelling from as several carriers will relocate this week.
Airlines that are part of the Oneworld Alliance (www.oneworld.com) are switching terminals to make it easier for passengers connecting from one carrier to another at the mega hub.
Other airlines are moving from Terminal 2 ahead of the terminal's closure on November 26, which means some passengers will fly out of one terminal and arrive back at another.
British Airways (www.ba.com) and Qantas (www.qantas are shifting some or all of their flights to Terminal 3, where they will join other Oneworld members American Airlines (www.aa.com) Cathay Pacific (www.cathaypacific.com), Finnair (www.finnair.com), Iberia (www.iberia.com), Japan Airlines (www.jal.com) and Royal Jordanian (www.rj.com).
All Qantas flights are moving from Terminal 4 to Terminal 3 this week and British Airways' flights to and from Bangkok, Singapore and Sydney will switch from Terminal 4 to Terminal 3 also.
All British Airways' remaining flights operate from Heathrow Terminal 5. Terminal 3 is the closest other terminal to T5 so passengers switching between its flights should have a smooth transfer.
The move will be completed by Thursday and passengers can check which terminal their flight departs from by visiting the Heathrow website at www.heathrowairport.com or calling their airline direct
Terminals 1,2 and 3 share the same car parks and the same tube stop on the Piccadilly Line, but passengers flying from Terminal 4 ? which is some distance from the other terminals ? need to use a different car park or alight at a different tube station.
BA has also moved its flights to Gibraltar, Malaga and Pisa from Gatwick to Heathrow.
The Oneworld alliance will expand on November 10 to include Mexican airline Mexicana and its subsidiaries MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink.
