Brexit: Changes to travel from 1st January 2021
29/12/2020
The UK officially left the EU in January 2020, but it is only now as the transition period comes to an end, that we will start to see things changing.
From 1 January 2021 some of the rules for British nationals travelling to the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein will change.
If you are planning a trip to one of these countries it is very important to be aware of the new rules as you may need to allow time to apply for documentation, such as a new passport or international drivers licence.
Changes include the required validity of your passport, the length of time you can stay, your entitlement to healthcare, as well as the rules for driving and taking pets to the EU.
The goods you can take and bring back from the EU will also change. For instance, you will no longer be allowed to take meat or milk products into the EU.
