Brexit & Travel Insurance: Your Policy Will be Valid
29/01/2019
As Brexit date is fast approaching we understand that there is some uncertainty about what will happen with regards to your holiday arrangements and travel insurance in the event of a no deal.
Your Travel Insurance & Brexit
We’d like to reassure you that any Insurewithease.com travel insurance purchased for travel after Brexit will be valid according to the terms and conditions of the policy, whether the UK leaves the EU with a deal or with no deal.
Any policy already issued for travel post-Brexit will remain in place and cover will continue as per the contract at the time of sale. This applies for both UK and EU residents where applicable.
We also understand that many people will be abroad in EEA countries over the Brexit period and again, we want to reassure you that cover will continue. In the unlikely event that no deal is made and air traffic is grounded, or there are any other interruptions to travel, our stance is as follows for all policy holders:
- If a you are abroad, we will automatically extend their cover with no additional premium
- If you have a policy in place and are unable to travel, we will offer a full refund or the option to change your travel dates within the usual terms of a policy
Brexit & Your Holiday Arrangements
ABTA has issued a statement regarding Brexit and your holiday arrangements. They state that package holidays booked with a UK travel company will be protected under the Package Travel Regulations, therefore if the travel company is unable to provide the holiday due to Brexit, the customer will be entitled to a full refund.
ABTA also points out that in a no-deal scenario, the European Commission has said flights to and from the UK will still be able to operate
We strongly recommend that you check the latest Government travel advice for your destination country before you travel.
