Bristol Airport launches mobile phone service

09/10/2007

Travellers heading to Bristol Airport will be able access live flight information via their Wi-Fi-enabled mobile phones.

The airport's website has been adapted so that it will now be able to be viewed via web-enabled mobiles and BlackBerries.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at Bristol Airport, said: "We believe this new tool will prove popular with our customers, making it possible for them to stay up to speed with the status of flights while en route to the airport."

As well as flight information, the stripped down version of the site also enables viewers to view the best routes to the airport as well as the kind of facilities on offer and contact details for carriers and tour operators.

News of the mobile phone service follows Bristol Airport being named among the nominees for a 2008 Globe Travel Awards in the best regional airport UK category.

Bristol Airport operates flights to 117 destinations in 27 countries and is the fifth-biggest regional airport in the UK.
