British travellers enjoy more holidays without visas
13/10/2010
British travellers can visit countries abroad without having to obtain visas, more so than any other nationality. In fact us Brits can visit 166 countries all over the world for at least three days without needing a visa.
The results published in the Visa Restrictions Index, which has been produced bi-annually since 2006, reported that British travellers are now at the top of the list of nationalities that can enjoy the highest range of visa free holidays.
Visas outline your eligibility to enter certain countries, but it by no means guarantees your right of passage, particularly in some far flung corners of the world. For nationalities that don't need a visa to visit certain countries, it probably indicates that a rapport has been established between the two countries.
Before you travel abroad, find out if you will need a visa to enter the country you are planning to visit. Many visas can be purchased on entering the country, which is a quick and painless process. But other visas will need to be applied for well in advance. Some visas cost money, while others might be completely free.
To work abroad, you will need to apply for a special work visa that allows you to work abroad for a certain length of time.
Visas all have expiry dates. You must never overstay your visa. If you wish to stay in a country for longer than you first planned, you can apply to extend your visa.
