Brits gearing up for winter travel bonanza
02/01/2008
Millions of savvy Brits are set to beat the January blues by booking a holiday in the early part of the New Year and taking advantage of great deals, it has been revealed.
According to data from Sainsbury's Bank, close to 12 million Britons are planning to book a break between Christmas and February 2008.
The trend is being prompted by growing awareness of the excellent prices on offer for winter breaks, according to Steve Johnson, head of Sainsbury's travel Insurance.
He explained: "It's a great time of year for planning ahead and booking a trip early as there are usually many bargains to be had."
Mr Johnson did however warn that in all the excitement over the range of affordable locations available, it is essential that holidaymakers take the time to commit to a comprehensive travel insurance policy, especially if they are opting for a potentially hazardous skiing break.
He said: "[While] it's easy to get excited about shopping around for destinations, resorts and even flights, travel insurance should not be ignored or accepted as merely an add-on."
