Budget carrier adds flights to Iceland

03/12/2007

Holidays to Iceland are about to become even more accessible to travellers on a budget - with the addition of more flights from a budget airline.

Traditionally, trips to Iceland have been beyond the reach of budget travellers owing to their prohibitive cost.

However, as of February next year, no-frills carrier Iceland Express will add extra flights to Reykjavik from London Stansted - with holidaymakers able to choose between 11 flights weekly with prices from just £69 including taxes.

Matthias Imsland, chief executive officer of Iceland Express, said: "This is a part of offering better service on the route between London Stansted and Iceland, which is an increasingly exciting and popular destination for UK travellers.

"A big factor is the constant increase in business passengers between the two capital cities and by adding frequency we're hoping to attract even more of the business flyers who have traditionally used Heathrow."

Iceland offers tourists a range of experiences from glacier exploration and hiking trips which appeal to the backpacker and adventure holiday crowd, to an array of golf courses which attract increasing numbers of tourists for golf holidays.
