Business travellers "want to make greener choices"

28/01/2008

Almost half of business travellers say that guilt about global warming factors is affecting their travel decisions, according to a survey.

The survey by the Association of Corporate travel Executives and KDS showed that people have a "real desire" to reduce the number of times they travel and to make greener choices.

Over 250 business travellers and travel managers were surveyed, which showed that 45 per cent allow guilt about global warming to affect their travel choices.

Stanislas Berteloot, marketing director of KDS, said: "While businesses are taking more action to improve their environmental conduct, this survey will show that most of their employees believe they should be doing even more."

One factor that the survey suggests may have influence this change is an increase in the number of people booking their own travel.

Almost 70 per cent of respondents now make their own booking online, which means that there is a "far closer link between individually held concerns and actual travel bookings", says the survey.

Last year a report from AFP said that the cost of business travel was set to soar in 2008, due to rising fuel costs and hotel rates, reported TravelMole.
