Caravanners should insure themselves against floods
02/04/2008
Caravanners should insure themselves against flooding, one industry expert has advised this week.
Safeguard Insurance highlighted last summer's heavy downfalls as a good example of why caravanners need a decent insurance policy.
Furthermore, figures released by The Caravan Club, revealing that 19 per cent of Brits now take this type of holiday making it the most popular type of paid for break in the UK highlighted the extent of this issue.
Rita Sadler, of Safeguard Insurance, said: "One of the things to remember when you're talking about caravan insurance is that it's not mandatory.
"Because it's not mandatory, [caravanners] think they don't have to [consider] it
I wouldn't want to think that I'd spent a lot of money on a caravan and then it goes up in flames or it's stolen."
She added that insuring a caravan may cost different amounts in certain areas, depending how much of a risk they are considered to be.
The British Holiday and Home Parks Association recently conducted a survey, which found that caravan parks generate an annual tourism spend of £3.1 billion and account for 28 per cent of all holiday bed nights in the UK.
