Credit card protection "will help holidaymakers"
22/08/2008
Credit card protection will help protect holidaymakers against credit card fraud, one expert has said this week.
According to credit card protection organisation CPP, there has been a significant rise in the number of stolen debit and credit cards abroad making insurance a more important issue than ever.
Kerry D'Souza, card fraud expert from CPP, said: "I think the key thing around card fraud is that there is still very much the onus on you, the individual, to prove that those transactions weren't made by yourself."
She added that in order to ensure holidaymakers do not end up footing large bills they should take out some form of card protection insurance.
Furthermore, travellers were advised to keep an eye on their credit cards and let the bank know where they are going on holiday so it can monitor any unusual transactions.
Research recently published by the CPP has revealed that over a third of all credit card offenses committed against UK citizens now happen in foreign countries.
