EU to scrap roaming charges for using mobile phones abroad
09/04/2014
There is good news for travellers who like to use their phone on holiday, whether for calls, texting or the internet. Last week the European Parliament voted to end roaming charges for mobile phones when travelling abroad.
From December 2015 British holidaymakers will be able to make calls, text and download data when they are travelling in EU countries for the same cost as the do at home.
Although it will be a little while before we can all take advantage of roaming charges being dropped completely (the new rules aren't expected to come into force until December 2015) we can all benefit from reduced roaming costs after the EU capped charges last year.
If you are one of the growing number of people who just can't do without their smartphone and/or tablet when you go on holiday it's important to make sure that you have insurance to provide cover in the event that they are lost, stolen or damaged.
One way of protecting your phone, tablet and laptop whilst you're away is to add Gadget Cover to your travel insurance.
Gadget Cover from insurewithease.com extends your travel insurance to include cover for loss, theft or damage to your laptop, tablet or mobile phone, including iphones and ipads, whilst you are away on holiday.
