Holidaymakers told not to forget travel insurance
08/08/2008
Holidaymakers staying at home this summer have been warned not to bypass travel insurance by one expert.
The manager of Schofield Insurance Brokers, David Gaskell, told the Daily Telegraph that as the price of holidaying on home soil is now "pretty high" having an insurance policy that will cover unexpected circumstances is important.
"With some large cottages costing over £1,000 a week to hire, you could lose a lot of money if you are forced to go on jury service or a close relative is rushed to hospital " he explained.
A good travel insurance policy will ensure that if an unexpected event occurs preventing a holidaymaker from taking their break they will not have to foot the bill for the trip.
In related news, comparison website Defacto said this week that travellers going on holiday should make sure that they have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
The EHIC entitles Brits abroad to free of(or) discounted medical treatment and can help holidaymakers receive medical care faster.
