Holidaymakers urged to check travel insurance after golf holiday firm collapse

27/10/2009

Golfers who have booked trips with Longshot Golf Holidays should check their travel insurance to see if they are eligible for a refund following the firm's collapse.

Longshot's parent company The Inta Group of Gateshead has ceased trading and cannot meet its future liabilities, according to ABTA.

The company also sold holidays under a number of other names: 3D Golf, Bill Goff Golf Tours, Jack High Bowling Holidays and Sunshine Challenge.

Clients who had booked flight-inclusive packages with any of The Inta Group's brands should be protected by the company's Air Travel Organisers Licence and they should contact the Civil Aviation Authority to make a claim (www.caa.co.uk).

Those who booked non-flight inclusive products through the firm, such as accommodation, should contact ABTA to make a claim (www.abta.com/consumer-services/travel_problems/ceased_trading). They have until April 22 2010 to do so.

The ABTA Claims enquiries office can be contacted on 01202 596 699 or email abtaclaims@cegagroup.com

Anyone who booked with The Inta Group brands should also check the terms of their travel insurance to see if they are eligible for a refund of their travel insurance premium if they have yet to travel.

Longshot Golf specialised in offering upmarket golfing holidays to European and worldwide destinations. It had been running for more than 30 years.

The Inta Group was the third largest golfing operator in the UK. Its collapse comes hard on the heels of another specialist golf operator, Surrey-based Barwell Leisure last year.
