If you are looking for a short break here are 101 ideas

13/10/2009

A new website featuring short breaks handpicked by two of the UK's top travel writers has launched this week.

101shortbreaks.co.uk includes ideas for breaks in the UK, Europe and even further afield.

Travel writers Mark Hodson and David Wickers, whose work is published in national newspapers and magazines, have selected their favourite short breaks for the site.

Included are a short break on a luxury yacht in Devon, a week in Tromso in Norway and a short break on a working farm in northern France.

Ideas for activity short breaks include a photography course in Liverpool, wakeboarding in the Cotswolds, paddleboarding in Cornwall, tennis coaching in the Alps and a survival course on Dartmour.

Visitors can select their short breaks by price, location or experience. Prices start at £60 for a working weekend with the National Trust, rising to almost £1,000 for a trip to Paris by private jet.

Ideas for long-haul short breaks include a weekend in Cape Town, recommended because the time difference is only two hours, a few days in Hong Kong, scuba diving in the Red Sea and shopping in Marrakech.

Hodson and Wickers already have a website of their favourite trips, 101holidays.co.uk. Wickers also runs his own travel company, Bridge and Wickers.

Companies selling short breaks have paid a fee to appear on the new website, though 'each has been individually selected for its expertise and excellence'. Or so says the press release.

Anyone interested in booking a short break through the website can get instant updates by following 101 Holidays on twitter@101holidays.
