It is important for travellers to consider their specific needs before buying travel insurance according to STA travel.
The travel website said that every policy is different there is no "one-size fits all" policy and that every person has to assess their own requirements before buying
Factors like length of cover the value of the items being taken and whether the person will be working in that country need to be considered says an STA spokesperson.
The spokesperson goes on to say: "There is a huge amount to consider when looking at travel insurance. Each passenger and each trip is unique."
Other things to consider include whether an existing medical condition needs to be covered and whether the country being visited has a health agreement with the UK.
It is important when buying winter sports insurance that skiers check the policy to ensure they're insured against things like avalanches and injuries according to financial research company Defaqto.
