Launch of powered suitcase prompts the question: Is your travel insurance as good as your bag?

As travellers rush to add their names to the waiting list for one of the revolutionary self-powered Live Luggage suitcases launched this spring, holidaymakers are being urged to consider whether their bags are adequately covered by their travel insurance.
With the new bags alone costing a hefty £295 each, travellers who have managed to get their hands on one of these self-powered gems are among those who should look carefully at the level of cover provided by their holiday insurance.
The cheapest travel insurance policies provide about £1,500 cover for personal possessions, which may be adequate for a short trip but might not be sufficient to cover all the possessions taken on a longer holiday.
Upgrade to Insurewithease Gold Cover and you'll get up to £3,000 cover for personal possessions, plus up to £500 for personal money and up to £250 to replace passports, tickets and documents.
When holidaymakers are assessing the worth of their luggage, they need to consider not only the cost of their suitcase and its contents, but also other items carried in hand luggage such as watches, sunglasses, cameras, mobiles and MP3 players.
