Looking to save money? Buy cheaper travel insurance

Almost all of us are looking to cut the cost of our annual holiday, according to a survey by American Express, but one of the easiest ways to save cash is to buy cheaper travel insurance.
More drastic penny-pinching measures being considered by some include buying cheap seats on flights departing late at night or at the crack of dawn sharing bathrooms, going somewhere they have never heard of or even not knowing where on earth they are staying until they arrive.
Amex Travellers Cheques director Sarah Harrison said: ""While the recession has taken its toll on family purse strings, it's great that people still intend to get away but are keen to find inventive ways to make ends meet so they still have a summer break to look forward to.""
What many people probably don't realise however is that they can save a chunk of cash by buying travel insurance online rather than from a travel company or on the high street.
A policy providing worldwide cover for a family of 4 for 7 days costs from just £21.16 with insurewithease while Thomson, the UK's biggest tour operator, advertises travel insurance from £16 per adult and £8 per child ? that's a whopping £48 for a family of 4.
