Monarch gets behind golfing holidays
28/03/2008
Monarch Airlines will be getting behind the golfing holiday industry this summer.
The low-cost airline will be the official sponsor for two of Europe's largest golfing events - the London Golf Show and the NEC Golf Show in Birmingham.
Its decision to back the events follows customer research, which revealed that golfing is one of Monarch's customers' top hobbies.
Managing director of Monarch's scheduled division, Liz Savage, said: "Spain and Portugal came out as the top two countries in which to play golf overseas, with 78 per cent of Monarch's golfers surveyed confirming that they arrange two or more overseas golf holidays per year."
She added that with golfers being "such a core audience" for Monarch already, a partnership with the shows was "a natural step" to enable the airline to highlight the destinations to which it flies.
Monarch's research took place in 2007 and interviewed 51,000 of the airline's customers.
Earlier this year, Your Golf Holidays signed up to sponsor a series of events organised by the English Golf Union, in order to promote holidays based around this sport.
