More Brits choosing to stay at home
17/01/2008
More people are choosing to holiday in the UK rather go abroad, according to Hoseasons.
The holiday company said its online bookings have more than doubled over the last two weeks, when compared to last year's figures, reports TravelMole.
One reason more UK travellers are choosing to stay at home is consciousness of carbon footprints, says the website.
The travel website also states the weakness of the pound against the euro and the effects of the credit crunch could have led to this move.
Richard Carrick, chief executive of Hoseasons, said: "We are certainly seeing an unprecedented demand for UK holidays and experiencing fantastic year on year growth in our booking figures."
Hoseasons has over 12,000 places to holiday in Britain and Ireland, and has recently launched into Europe.
The number of Brits travelling oversees between September and November last year stayed the same with spending on holidays abroad decreasing by one per cent, according to National Statistics.
