More Brits opting for winter weddings
25/10/2007
Winter weddings are becoming increasingly popular and need not cost more to insure than summer nuptials, it has been claimed.
According to Carol Richardson of Confetti, one of the UK's leading sources of wedding and special occasion information and products, more and more Britons are opting for Christmas weddings - a development she attributes to the idea that it is a romantic time and the opportunities it affords to take a longer honeymoon.
Moreover, "because you're insuring for the same thing" holding a ceremony in winter does not spell higher outlay for wedding insurance than during the peak summer period, she said.
However, it remains a sensible option to plan for inclement weather, she added.
"Obviously if you're having a winter wedding it's important to have a contingency plan for the weather. The majority of people won't be planning marquees and that kind of thing.
"Make sure that people can go inside if necessary."
