Moscow's hotels are world's costliest

Hotels in Moscow are the most expensive in the world, it has been revealed.

Accommodation in the Russian capital averages £167 per night, according to findings from the Hotels.com Hotel Price Index.

This was despite the fact that hotel prices actually fell 28 per cent during compared with this time last year.

Just behind Russia was New York where hotel prices average £140 per night, while in at third was Boston where the average nightly rate stood at £135.

London however, remains relatively economical at £91, while the cheapest city of all was Bangkok where a night in a hotel will set you back £67.

Patrik Oqvist, a marketing director at Hotels.com, said: "Moscow has long been a popular destination for tourists and business travellers alike, however, it is the fact that its hotel prices can fall 28 per cent and it can still be the most expensive city in the world for a night's sleep that caught our attention."
