Newlyweds enjoy nature-based breaks in Middle East
07/08/2008
Newlyweds are seeking destinations in the Middle East where they can enjoy nature-based breaks, according to one expert.
Al Bawaba reports that honeymoon couples prefer more isolated retreats after taking their vows and tend to seek places that boast "natural beauty and lively environment".
Thierry Bertin, vice-president of sales and marketing for Hyatt International in south-west Asia, told the news provider that most newly-married couples are wanting perfection.
"Most newlyweds opt for places that are not as busy as major cities; they want a place where they can unwind and enjoy nature but at the same time enjoy the fun and liveliness that the destination offers," he explained.
Resorts such as Sharm El Sheik in Egypt and Goa in India were highlighted as destinations that have attracted honeymooners looking for a romantic trip away.
Egypt is described by the Lonely Planet as a national with "so many marvellous things", including the Sphinx, the river Nile and ancient Luxor - not to mention the famous pyramids.
