Over-50s choosing adventure holidays

18/10/2007

Older holidaymakers are increasingly opting to holiday in long-haul destinations, it has been reported.

A survey conducted by Saga found that one-third of people in the over-50 age bracket named adventure as one of their top considerations when choosing a holiday.

A spokesperson for Saga said: "Touring holidays to long-haul destinations continue to be very popular. South Africa, New Zealand, China and South America are in the top ten long-haul holidays for our customers."

Saga attributed the new found enthusiasm for adventurous destinations among older people to the increasing availability of flights to these locales and falling prices for places on planes.

News of the study's findings come after a separate survey from More Than found that more than one in eight of the over-45 age group planned on taking an adventure holiday in 2007.
