Overseas festivals are "cheaper, easier to get tickets for and hotter"
27/03/2008
Overseas festivals are cheaper, easier to get tickets for and offer hotter weather, an expert has advised this week.
The Association of British travel Agents (Abta) noted that with flights to Europe being at an "all time low" festival-goers will make savings in their transport costs, as well as with the ticket price.
Sean Tipton, spokesperson for Abta said: "Savvy music fans are beginning to realise that many of the bands that tour the UK over the summer also do the music circuit in Europe.
"The most popular venues are not at the classic tourist resorts
Benicassim in Spain is on the Costa Azahar, which is
easily accessible from Valencia and near to some of the most stunning cities and beaches in Spain."
He added that Serbia hosts one of the "most exciting" music festivals in Europe each year in Novi Sad.
Other festivals taking place around the globe this year summer include WOMAD festival in Australia, New Zealand and the Canary Islands, Coachella in California and Roskilde in Denmark.
