Proving your COVID-19 vaccination status
25/06/2021
Some countries on the green and amber list require you to prove that you are fully vaccinated, either to gain entry at all, or to enable you to bypass some quarantine or testing rules.
Being fully vaccinated generally means that you have both doses of a two-dose vaccine, with the 2nd dose being more than 14 days ago. The number of days after the 2nd vaccination can vary, so you should check the rules carefully for your chosen destination.
The NHS COVID pass
To prove your vaccination status when travelling you will need to use the NHS COVID pass. Your vaccination card can not be used to prove you are fully vaccinated.
The NHS COVID pass consists of a QR code which can be scanned to see details of your vaccination status, it lets you share your coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination results in a secure way.
This enables you to show others that you’ve had a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine when travelling abroad.
You can access the NHS COVID pass in a number of ways:
Using the NHS app
This can be downloaded onto a smartphone or tablet.
Once you have downloaded the app, simply enter your name, date of birth, postcode and NHS number if you have it (you can do it without your NHS number) so that it can identify you. You can then click on the link to NHS COVID pass.
Accessing the COVID pass via the NHS website
You can register on the NHS website in order to download or print a pdf document proving your vaccination status.

Using a letter from the NHS
If you don’t have the NHS app, you can request a paper version of the NHS COVID pass to be sent to you in the post.
You can do this by calling 119, or by completing a form on the NHS website: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/covid-pass/get-your-covid-pass-letter/
