Severe flooding across Queensland - Travel Insurance Australia

11/01/2011

There is continued severe flooding across Queensland, with some areas experiencing their worst floods in more than 50 years. Brisbane, Australia's 3rd largest city is the latest area being affected with parts of the city centre being evacuated due to flash floods.

How could travel insurance help in the event of extreme weather?

Wherever and whenever you travel it's important to make sure you have adequate travel insurance cover for your destination, and Australia is no different. It may feel like a home from home, but travel insurance Australia is vital, most importantly to cover medical costs and it can also provide cover in the event of extreme weather or floods.

When choosing your travel insurance, check that it will cover you for delayed departure or abandonment of a holiday due to extreme weather conditions preventing your departure from the UK.

Travel insurance can also help if extreme weather, such as the current floods in Queensland, strike whilst you are away. Check to see if you travel insurance policy includes catastrophe cover.

Catastrophe cover is designed to provide cover for additional, irrecoverable travel or accommodation costs if you are forced to move from your pre-paid, pre-booked holiday accommodation as a result of unforeseen events such as flood, fire, earthquake, hurricane and medical epidemic. The cover is intended to enable you to continue your holiday in alternative accommodation, or if that's not possible, return to the UK. Check your travel insurance policy before you travel for full details.

Insurewithease.com includes catastrophe cover in all its single trip and annual policies.
