A report shows that prices for UK skiers have dropped in many European resorts due to the strength of the pound, but beware, the report also highlights the growing cost gap between some popular winter sports destinations.
According to the latest Post Office Travel Money Ski Resort Report, prices in ski resorts across Europe are dropping due to the strength of the pound. This is great news if you are hitting the slopes this winter as you could see your money go a lot further.
The survey which looked at 27 ski resorts, including those which are among the most popular with Brits, showed that prices had dropped in three quarters of cases.
Italy proved to be the cheapest of the big four ski countries, but those travelling to France and Austria are also likely to see big price drops due to the strength of the sterling against the Euro.
The report also highlighted the cost gap between Eurozone countries and the more expensive Swiss ski resorts, which has widened this year. Illustrating the fact that you need to choose your destination carefully to get the best value for money.
The survey looked at the cost of ski hire, lift passes, lunch on the slopes and drinks including coffee, Coca Cola, wine and beer.
The importance of ski insurance
If you are going on a winter sports holiday this winter it is very important to get the right travel insurance which includes cover for skiing, snowboarding and any other activities which you plan to take part in.
A winter sports travel insurance policy will extend your medical expenses cover to include medical expenses as a result of an accident on the slopes, including getting you from the slopes to a medical centre (by helicopter if necessary).
