Top 10 holiday destinations that need your money

12/01/2010

If you need a reason to justify splashing out on a foreign holiday then flight comparison website Cheapflights.co.uk has come up with one of the best.

It has compiled a list of the top 10 destinations that are most in need of money from tourists, based on the Forbes list of economies that have been hardest hit by the recession.

So if you feel a little bit naughty spending money on a holiday you can't really afford, you can convince you're doing it to help boost other economies by booking a trip to one of the places on the list.

And you can always save yourself a little bit of cash by booking cheaper travel insurance online at insurewithease.com.

Eastern European destinations feature high up the list, with Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania taking the top three slots.

Iceland, whose economy collapsed along with its banking system, takes fourth place and, perhaps more surprisingly, Singapore is in fifth. The Lion City is one of the most affluent in Asia, but no doubt has suffered a decline in high spending tourists since the banking crisis.

Ireland is also on the list of needy destinations, so you can book your stag or hen weekend to Dublin and convince yourself you are going to prop up the Irish economy as well as its bars.

Perhaps the best place for a guilt-free holiday is the Seychelles, number 10 on the list. You can feel very good about boosting the local economy while merely lounging by the Indian Ocean.
