Top romantic deals for hard-up Romeos

28/01/2010

Full of love but short of cash? Fear not, Romeo (and Juliet), help is at hand from the travel website Travelzoo, which has come up with what it thinks are the best two-for-one Valentine's deals.

Not that Travelzoo is suggesting that couples must indulge each other on February 14. No, no, that would be a cliché. And expensive.

Instead, it has found the most affordable deals that are available all year round. So you can avoid the crowds and save heaps of cash, but still score highly on the love-o-meter.

Close to the top of the list on travelzoo.com are two-for-one three-night city breaks by Eurostar (www.eurostar.com), which start at £198 per couple until March. Choose from Lille, Paris or Brussels.

If you've got more cash to splash it recommends two weeks in Goa with Voyager Travel Direct (www.voyagertraveldirect.co.uk) which comes in at just £549 for two, including flights, accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis and transfers. The only catch is that there's just one departure on March 11.

Looking for something even more flash, maybe somewhere even to pop the question later in the year? Or perhaps you might be looking to make amends for forgetting Valentine's Day altogether. Then a cruise in the Maldives is a possibility.

A two-weeks-for-the-price-of-one offer is available from the Travel Collection (www.travelcollection.co.uk), which has a cruise around the islands in the North and South Atolls. The price of £1,200 per person includes flights departing on May 23, all meals and drinks.

All the above special offers and more are available at http://uk.travelzoo.com/valentines/.
