Travel insurance customers can fly business class on economy tickets
25/08/2009
Travel insurance clients who book British Airways flights online are being given the chance to upgrade to Club World or First Class cabins, depending on their ticket type.
Those who pay for World Traveller Plus economy seats can opt to pay a small premium to fly in BA's business class Club World seats and those who buy Club World tickets can upgrade to the airline's super luxurious First Class.
The upgrades only apply to selected flights and to certain fare classes, so customers should check online at www.ba.com/ManageMyBooking to see if the offer is available to them.
Those who book through travel agents can also see if they are eligible for an upgrade by logging on to www.ba.com 24 hours before departure.
To qualify for the upgrades, which cost from £399 per person, customers must have booked their flights at least 2 weeks in advance. For the extra fee, passengers will get all the benefits of the upgraded cabin, including a higher baggage allowance, airport lounge access and BA frequent flyer points.
On the downside, BA has increased its long-haul fares in all cabins on most routes. The increases vary from £20 to £40, depending on the cabin.
