Travel to Oz with only a wallet, a passport and holiday insurance

18/08/2009

Imagine heading all the way to Australia and not having to pack a thing except the bare essentials, including your passports, your toothbrush, some cash and holiday insurance.

Very soon that will be possible thanks to a new company called Zerobaggage which will allow people to rent clothes in their destination. According to the company's website, it is offering 'an environmentally responsible, anxiety-free way of living and travelling'.

Subscribers go online to choose their garments, which will be waiting in their hotel room when they arrive. They can choose new or second-hand items and there's an option for them to buy them at the end of their stay. If they prefer, they can choose the rental clothes themselves when they arrive.

The cost for a family of 4 for 2 weeks would start at about £180. A backpacker

renting second-hand gear would pay about £60 for a month. Not bad when you think that you save on shopping, washing and there's no need to lug suitcases or backpacks around.

The service, available from zerobaggage.com will start in spring next year and will cover Canada as well as Australia.
