Travelling for holidays stresses most Britons

06/02/2008

The majority of British people feel anxious or stressed before flying, new research has found.

Missing a flight or arriving too late was the main worry for holidaymakers with 37 per cent of people being concerned by this.

Older passengers found this more worrying, with 44 per cent of them getting anxious about it, the research by Holiday Extras found.

Half of airport users reported feeling rushed, stressed and worried, in the survey of 1,000 passengers.

Almost 30 per cent of women reported checking five times that they had their tickets and passports before boarding, with four in ten saying they checked four times.

Matthew Pack, the web and marketing director for Holiday Extras, said: "Overseas holidays may be fun, but clearly getting there is a nightmare for most of us.

"Most people still travel to the airport by car so to cut stress levels we advise travellers to book their parking in advance. This ensures that there is a parking space waiting for them and saves both time and money."
