Travelodge to open recyclable hotel
11/01/2008
Travelodge is to build two new innovative new developments to offer budget accommodation to UK travellers.
The developments will be composed entirely of modified shipping container modules imported from China and will be located at Uxbridge and Heathrow.
The Heathrow development is a larger project and is intended to serve the millions of travellers who pass through the UK' transport hub every year.
At the end of the hotel's shelf life the steel modules can be dismantled and could be moved to another location.
Paul Harvey, Travelodge's director of property and development, said: "Travelodge is all about making hotels available to more people than ever before and this construction method has the potential to change the face of hotels as we know it.
He added: "It could facilitate the creation of hotels on a temporary basis at times of peak demand in certain locations - such as festivals or sporting events."
