Tweet for a cheap hotel room
25/09/2009
Users of the social networking site Twitter can now book discounted hotel rooms at the last minute following the launch of a new venture, Inoqo.
Hotels can advertise empty rooms on Inoqo on Twitter, which is used by millions of people worldwide.
Inoqo will only publish unique hotel packages available no more than 48 hours before check in.
Users of Twitter can follow a stream for the destination they want to visit and ask for details of packages to be sent automatically to their personal Twitter stream as they go live.
The Inoqo streams on Twitter are easy to find as they are all labelled ""2"" then ""hotels"", for example, 2NewYorkHotels and 2AmsterdamHotels.
A quick search on Inoqo this week for last minute bookings came up with three nights at a five-star hotel in Dublin for £447 per room per night or one night at a three-star hotel in Dublin for €59.90 ? a 50 per cent discount ? and a four-star hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, for R926 per room per night.
Inoqo has hotels signed up in 30 cities in the United States and in many popular cities in Europe, also Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cape Town, Mexico, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Toronto.
What's exciting about Inoqo is that Twitter users planning to visit a city can get last minute offers sent directly to them, as soon as they become available.
Other websites to check out for discounted hotel rooms available at the last minute include lastminute.com and laterooms.co.uk
