UK travellers luggage worth £1,000
05/10/2007
UK travellers carry an average of £1,000 worth of goods with them when travelling for short weekend breaks.
According to Post Office figures, the contents of an average man's bag adds up to £862.
Meanwhile, women are carrying on average a whopping £1,208-worth of products.
However, despite the high value of our luggage, over a third of Britons are opting to go without travel insurance and risk a miserable break should they be the victim of loss or theft.
Helen Warburton, head of travel services for the Post Office, said: "We know that people are less likely to take out insurance when going away on a city break or for a long weekend," explained Helen Warburton, head of travel services for the Post Office.
"But the risk of losing or damaging your luggage - or any other holiday mishap - is no less because the holiday is shorter."
