Increase in burglaries of holiday accommodation in Spain
28/01/2013
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) are warning British holiday makers to be aware of an increase in theft from holiday accommodation in Spain.
Due to an increase in the reports of burglaries in areas with holiday accommodation and residential areas in major cities, the FCO are advising British Nationals to make sure that their holiday accommodation has adequate security measures in place.
They are also advising holiday makers to keep all doors and windows locked during the night and when they are not in the property and to pay particular attention to the security of their valuable items including their passport.
It is a good idea to keep valuable items on your person when possible, or if not to lock them in a safe.
If you are concerned about the security of your holiday accommodation you should speak to your tour operator or the management/owner of the property.
In the event that you do become a victim of theft or burglary on holiday call 112 within the EU to be connected to the local emergency services.
